About The Club

Base One Gym Club was started back in the mid 1970s, and was originally located on the USAF base at Daws Hill in High Wycombe (Known in USAF parlance as Base One - hence the Club name)

During this period the Club was quite successful producing gymnasts who competed at high level.

We moved to Lady Verney High School, High Wycombe, when the Gymnasium on the base was required as a storage area. We stayed there, for several years during which time the School closed, and the site became part of Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.

In 1999 the College redeveloped the Gym nito a fitness training area, and we had to close down for a few months until we found new premises, during which time we lost most of our squad gymnasts to other Clubs.

We  reopened at Millbrook Combined School, and  built up our recreational classes.

We wereon the point of restarting a competitive squad again, when the County decided the school needed an Adult Education Building rather than the Gymnasium, and so the Gym was demolished, and we are now homeless again.

The Club is fully voluntary. All coaches give their time freely, and we try to keep our fees as low as possible. We will always try to help children from families who are unable to afford our fees to take part.
